At Orica we have implemented a performance-based culture driven by personal accountability for delivering results.
Within the company the culture is called "Deliver the Promise" and is defined by four key principles that guide how we act and behave.
Safety, Health and Environment – Ensuring Our Future
- No injuries to anyone, ever
- Value people and the environment
Commercial Ownership
- Run the business as if it’s your own
Creative Customer Solutions
- Think differently, deliver swiftly and capture the value
Working Together
- Success as a team and success as an individual
Our employees were responsible for developing these key principles and have incorporated them into our performance management process. Annual objectives are set within the framework of the principles and our activities and behaviours, both as individuals and as a company, are constantly measured against the principles. In short, if we say we’re going to do something, we do it!
Successful implementation of a performance-based culture has been essential as part of a three-fold approach to turning around the fortunes of the company that also included efficiency and strategy. All three elements of this approach continue to be relevant as we move forward.
