Training and Development

Salary
We pay our employees based on performance and taking into account the external market. The salaries at Orica are commercially competitive and accurately reflect a person's contribution as well as the size and complexity of the position they hold.
Performance management and promotions
In addition to regular informal discussions between employees and their managers, a performance management review is held annually to detail your performance. This meeting is also an opportunity for you to obtain guidance for improving performance, discuss training and development needs, and to express your career aspirations.
Promotions usually come from within the company, but employees are encouraged to be proactive in developing their own careers. To assist them to do so the company policy is to advertise most vacancies internally either before or at the same time as the vacancy is advertised externally. Vacancies are filled by those best suited to the position or by those who need experience to develop them for higher positions.
Safety, Health and the Environment (SH&E)
Orica’s long term success depends on the safety and health of our employees, customers and the community. Our aim to do more with less and minimise environmental impact is supported by initiatives such as product stewardship and life cycle analysis. One of the four key principles that guide our behaviour as an organisation and as individuals relates to SH&E, promoting ‘No injuries to anyone ever’ and compelling us to ‘Value people and the environment’.
