Former ChlorAlkali Plant Remediation Project

Overview

Orica has safely remediated mercury contaminated soil at the site of the Former ChlorAlkali Plant (FCAP) at the Botany Industrial Park. The areas which have been remediated are shown as Blocks A, M and G in the figure below. 

The project was conducted between 2013 and 2017. Remediation works were carried out in compliance with the EPA's Management Order. Project updates were provided at meetings of the Orica Botany Liaison Committee.   

The ongoing maintenance and monitoring that is required under the Long-Term Site Environment Management Plans is managed under an Ongoing Maintenance Order under the Contaminated Land Management Act 1997 issued on 6 December 2018.
