New Interactive Online Cyanide Safe Use and Handling Awareness Program for Orica Customers
At Orica, we are committed to delivering and maintaining the highest standards for the safe handling and use of sodium cyanide. Our ‘Cyanide Safe Use and Handling Awareness Program’ is a service to all Orica cyanide customers to help them protect their people, the environment and their communities.
Latest technology to deliver training
We have adopted the latest digital technology to offer the program in a brand new online format, which features animation and video content, for a more effective and interactive learning experience.
Register & participate
Our valued cyanide customers are invited to have their mine site employees participate in this program, in order to support those who work with cyanide to do so in an informed, safe, secure and efficient manner.
This market-leading program consists of six modules and a multiple-choice quiz taking approximately one hour to complete. Topics covered during the program include:
- The characteristics of cyanide;
- The dangers of working with cyanide on a mine site;
- The effects cyanide can have on the human body; and
- The best methods of responding to cyanide-related incidents.
The flexibility of the program allows an Orica representative to visit your site to facilitate its delivery, or it can be self-taught via the Orica online training portal.
Certificates of completion in your local language and site wide completion rate reports are available on request.
To ensure that your site personnel receive the full benefit of the program, a suite of posters, safety signs and pocket guides are available, to communicate key program messages, safety guides, and critical response information for cyanide incidents.
The cyanide awareness program (the “Program”) has been prepared by or on behalf of Orica Australia Pty Ltd (together with its related entities, “Orica”). The Program contains confidential commercial information and has been provided in good faith for use solely by you on the basis that it will not be communicated or made available to, or relied upon by, any other person without Orica’s written consent. Orica retains ownership of all copyright and other intellectual property in and with respect to the Program.
The Program is a general introduction to the characteristics of, and the safe storage, use and handling of cyanide. The Program does not replace your own workplace training. Your employer and/or mine operator will have site specific policies and procedures regarding working with cyanide that you will need to follow. If you have not been trained in these procedures, please contact your employer and/or the mine operator immediately.
