My Training

Orica’s dedication to the safe handling and use of sodium cyanide on mine sites helps our customers protect people, the environment and the communities they operate in.

To assist our customers with maintaining high safety standards, Orica provides Cyanide Safe Use and Handling Awareness programs and a wide range of safety support materials.

CYANIDE AWARENESS PROGRAM DISCLAIMER

The cyanide awareness program (the “Program”) has been prepared by or on behalf of Orica Australia Pty Ltd (together with its related entities, “Orica”).  The Program contains confidential commercial information and has been provided in good faith for use solely by you on the basis that it will not be communicated or made available to, or relied upon by, any other person without Orica’s written consent.  While Orica gives you permission to mention your successful completion of the program as set out below, Orica always retains ownership of all copyright and other intellectual property in and with respect to the Program.

The Program is a general introduction to the characteristics of, and the safe storage, use and handling of cyanide. The Program does not replace your own workplace training. Your employer and/or mine operator will have site specific policies and procedures regarding working with cyanide that you will need to follow. If you have not been trained in these procedures, please contact your employer and/or the mine operator immediately.

Orica makes no representation and gives no warranties or guarantees, express or implied, as to the accuracy or completeness of the material presented in the Program. Orica assumes no responsibility for any action taken by you or any other person in reliance on the information contained in the Program.

As this is not a service that is provided to consumers but is provided only to assist in the handling of an industrial chemical, to the maximum extent permitted by law, consumer laws will not apply to the Program, and  Orica will not be liable to you or any other entity for damages or losses of any kind (including without limited, indirect, direct, special, incidental or consequential damages or loss of profits) arising directly or indirectly out of or in connection with the use of or reliance on the Program by you or any other person.  Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to resupply of the service, or the cost of resupply of the service, at Orica’s election.

Privacy Statement

Personal Information Handling Orica collects, holds, and uses personal information (like name, email address and worksite) as well as Orica customer information in order to provide and enhance the Program and associated services.  Personal information is also provided to service providers engaged by Orica for the same purpose.  This includes preparing internal and external research and benchmarking information in respect of cyanide.  Part of the Program involves sending you information on the cyanide market by email.  This email also includes information on other services that Orica provides.  You can unsubscribe from this part of the Program at any time by using the link on the email or by contacting [email protected].   Program users can also use this address for any privacy query.  As Orica operates globally, information supporting the Program may be transferred internationally to locations that include (but aren't limited to) Australia and the United States.

Data aggregation.  Orica will not sell any personal information to third parties. Orica will aggregate and de-identify data collected from users of the Program before preparing and disclosing research and benchmarking information to third parties.

Successful Completion of the Program

Your right to use the Program is limited to participation in the Program as a trainee.  From the time that you are advised of successful completion until such time (if any) that you make a request to remove your personal information, Orica grants to you a limited, non-transferable permission to inform current and prospective employers/mine operators that you have successfully completed the Program but not publish that information more broadly.  In doing so, you consent to employers/mine operators who use the Program checking your completion and training records.  You must not represent that the Program is a government accredited course, associate the Program with any Orica competitor or engage in any other conduct that is likely to be misleading or deceptive.

Request To Remove Personal Information

After using the Program, you can email us to have your personal information removed.  However, note that you will have to separately contact employers/mine operators (including Training Managers) about deletion of information held by them.   Deletion of information by employers/ mine operators will not always be possible, as that deletion may be inconsistent with legal obligations to maintain records in respect of contracts as well as occupational health and safety.

Training Managers – Disclosures To Employers / Mine Operators

By using a work email address in connection with the Program, you consent to your participation in the Program, and whether or not you have completed the Program, being disclosed to “Training Managers”.  Training Managers are the persons at your employer and/or mine operator who identify themselves to Orica as managers responsible for training and or/cyanide safety.  Orica does not (and cannot) independently verify whether a person who nominates themselves as a Training Manager has that responsibility, and therefore you should assume that other personnel of employees and contractors interacting with the Program may become aware of your participation in, and completion status for, the Program.
