Community Forum
A Community Forum was first held in 2017 following the Botany Groundwater Strategy Review Workshop and again in 2020 and 2024 to share findings with the broader community with international experts and the IMC hydrogeologist.

GTP Environmental Impact Statement
An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was prepared for the GTP in 2004 to assess the environmental impacts of the Botany Groundwater Cleanup Project. It described the proposed mitigation measures to manage identified impacts.
Conceptual Site Model Report
A Conceptual Site Model (CSM) was developed for the Botany Groundwater Cleanup Project, and other current contamination projects at Botany Industrial Park (BIP). The objective of the CSM is to summarise and encapsulate pertinent information derived from the many studies undertaken at BIP and surrounding areas, including:
- the history of industrial activity and land development at BIP and surrounding properties, including potentially contaminating activities and land uses;
- the progression and scope of investigation and remedial works undertaken by Orica and its predecessor ICI associated with the Botany Groundwater Cleanup Project;
- the environmental setting at BIP and surrounding affected properties;
- the inferred sources, nature and extent of contamination, including the various media affected by the contamination;
- the mechanisms for transport and attenuation of the contaminants, and exposure of identified receptors to the contamination;
- the potential health and environmental risks which the identified contamination is inferred to pose; and
effects of current remedial practices, and the results of previous remediation work and trials.
Since the main contamination migration and exposure issues associated with the BIP are related to groundwater, the CSM is primarily a hydrogeological document. However, as indicated above, summary data and relevant information are also included for soil, surface water, sediment, biota and vapour phase contamination. This report is periodically updated, and the most recent update was completed in May 2022.
Contaminant Mass Estimate Report
In 2007 Orica issued a Contaminant Mass Estimate Report prepared by URS Australia Pty Ltd using data from 2005. This report provided estimates of the masses of the main chlorinated hydrocarbon contaminants in three phases: dissolved in the groundwater; sorbed (attached) onto soil particles in the aquifer; and a separate-phase Dense Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid (DNAPL).
An updated version of the mass estimates was completed by WSP Golder in 2023 using more up to date data and modelling techniques.
