The Smith Family

For over a decade, Orica has supported students through its partnership with The Smith Family, specifically funding their Learning for Life program. This long-term, evidence-based program helps young Australians overcome educational inequality caused by poverty. Learning for Life offers a proven combination of financial, personal and practical support that enables students to stay engaged with their learning, build essential skills and unlock their potential. Since 2018, Orica has played a key role in establishing and supporting Learning for Life in Gladstone, which marked The Smith Family’s first new community in a decade. Through this partnership, more local students can access the program and gain more knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours they need to succeed at school and beyond.

Are you interested in helping more young people to break the cycle of poverty, so they can create better futures for themselves? There are lots of ways you can help, contact Suzie Lane – Community Advisor to find out more.
