Resilience Sculpture Unveiled
05 Sep 2015
On Saturday 5 September, the Resilience Sculpture was unveiled at Newcastle’s Foreshore Park. The aim of the sculpture is to increase mental illness awareness. Orica Kooragang Island helped fund the public artwork through its Community Investment Program.
Local sculptor, Roger McFarlane, spent six weeks in the park carving two huge blocks of marble sourced from Greece. Now it’s complete, the sculpture will offer a peaceful place for quiet contemplation and reflection, a place for community events, and a meeting place for carers and individuals touched by mental illness.
