Student mentoring winners announced

On Wednesday 12 August, the winners of the Rush Mentoring Aspire Today, Influence Tomorrow competition were announced during a special ceremony at the Newcastle Museum. The five successful high school students from
Years 10, 11 and 12 will spend the day being mentored by a local person of
influence. This year's mentors are the Newcastle Lord Mayor (Government), a
senior journalist with the Newcastle Herald (Journalism), a popular radio
announcer (Radio/Media), a successful business man (Business) and the leader of
a local charity organisation (Charity).
The winning students shared
their competition submissions at the event, which was an inspiring experience for
everyone in attendance. Each of the successful students demonstrated great
maturity of thinking and dedication to developing themselves and others. Orica
Kooragang Island was very proud to have supported the competition through a
$10,000 grant from its Community Investment Program.
