The introduction of i-kon™ III Steel represents a significant upgrade, featuring a robust stainless-steel detonator shell designed to provide strength and durability.

Key enhancements of i-kon™ III Steel include:

• Superior Shell Strength: The new design provides improved detonator shell strength, maintaining the high standards set by the i-kon™ III detonator.
• Improved Dynamic Pressure: Significantly improves dynamic pressure resistance*.
• Improved Corrosion Resistance: The stainless-steel shell improves corrosion resistance, ensuring longevity and reliability.

I-kon™ III Steel retains all the functional and technical benefits that have made the i-kon™ III detonator a reliable choice in the industry. This latest upgrade is part of Orica’s ongoing commitment to innovation, safety, and performance in blasting technology.

The i-kon™ III Steel upgrade will be rolled out globally (excluding Europe) starting with the i-kon™ Extreme wire range. A full conversion, including Standard and RX units, is expected to commence in 2025.
