Orica Board Appointment
17 Dec 2019
Melbourne: Orica (ASX: ORI) Chairman Malcolm Broomhead today announced that, in accordance with Orica’s normal Board succession practices, the Board will welcome the addition of Mr John Beevers, effective 1 February 2020.
Mr Broomhead said Mr Beevers will bring an intimate understanding of Orica’s business, having worked for the company for 27 years, and then as CEO of GroundProbe for five and a half years prior to its acquisition by Orica.
“There are few people in the world that know Orica as well as John. His deep insights and operational expertise will be of tremendous value to the company as we enter our next phase of growth. In particular, John’s skills and experience as our Global Technology Manager, and as CEO of GroundProbe, will be extremely beneficial as we realise the potential of our exciting technology solutions portfolio,” Mr Broomhead said.
Mr Beevers will offer himself for election as a Director at the Annual General Meeting in December 2020.
Mr Beevers will not be considered an independent director. He was previously the Chief Executive Officer of GroundProbe, which was acquired by Orica in January 2018, and has provided consultancy services to Orica Australia Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of the Company. However, the Board expects that he will bring objective and independent judgement to the Board’s deliberations.
